Serie A side Lazio have reportedly made contact with Mauro Icardi's representatives as the former Galatasaray striker weighs up his next move after becoming a free agent.
According to Sky Sport reporter Manuele Baiocchini, Lazio Sporting Director Angelo Fabiani has reached out to Icardi's representatives, with the potential move being described as a "crazy idea."
The 33-year-old striker is currently available without a transfer fee after his contract with Galatasaray came to an end.
Icardi's priority is reportedly to join a club competing in the UEFA Champions League, although he is also considering the possibility of returning to Serie A, Italy's top-flight football league.
That has opened the door to Lazio, which has now made initial contact with the player's camp as the Italian club explores whether a deal could be worked out.
The main hurdle for Lazio is understood to be Icardi's financial demands.
Despite that obstacle, the first contact between the two sides has brought the possibility of a transfer onto the agenda as Icardi considers his options following his departure from Galatasaray.
