French-Iranian former professional tennis player Mansour Bahrami entertained the Ankara crowd with an exhibition match before Turkish player Berfu Cengiz went on to claim her first WTA 125 singles title at the Turk Telekom Ankara Open.
Held at Topspin Tennis Academy Bilkent, the tournament brought Bahrami onto the court ahead of the singles final, giving spectators an exhibition match before Cengiz faced Serbian player Teodora Kostovic for the championship.
Following his appearance, Bahrami said he was impressed by both the organization and the turnout, highlighting the atmosphere created by spectators who filled the stands.
"It was great to see the sports fans who came here fill the stands. It was a great pleasure to play in front of the Ankara crowd.
Turk Telekom has also done a very good job. A really beautiful tournament is being organized here, and I congratulate them," Bahrami said.
The former professional player also spent time with fans and athletes after the exhibition, posing for photographs as the tournament moved on to its singles final.
Cengiz then came back from a set down against Kostovic, winning the final 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 to secure the first WTA 125 championship of her career.
After the match, Turk Telekom CEO Ebubekir Sahin presented Cengiz with the trophy during an award ceremony held on court.
Cengiz thanked those involved in organizing the tournament and described the victory as particularly meaningful because it came in Türkiye.
"It was my first final at home. I cannot believe I won the trophy. I am especially very happy to have won my first trophy in Türkiye, in Ankara," Cengiz said.
