Marc Marquez claimed victory at the Aragon MotoGP Grand Prix on Sunday, extending his strong record at the Motorland Aragon circuit. Pedro Acosta finished second, with Marco Bezzecchi third.
The win was Marquez's fourth of the season and moved him to second in the overall standings, behind compatriot Jorge Martin, who finished fifth at Aragon. Marquez now trails Martin by 19 points, while Bezzecchi dropped to third, 24 points off the lead.
Bezzecchi and Martin started strongly, taking a 1-2 formation, before Marquez moved past Jorge Martin into second early in the race.
Bezzecchi built an advantage of eight-tenths of a second, but Marquez took the lead on lap six at Turn 15, with the pair brushing wheels exiting the corner. The move allowed Acosta to advance into second place.
Francesco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli both crashed out of the race, while Raul Fernandez retired to the garage.
Marquez extended his lead to more than a second by lap 14, stretching the gap to 1.4 seconds by lap 16 and finishing more than 1.7 seconds ahead of Acosta.
Marquez's brother Alex finished fourth, ahead of Martin, Fermin Aldeguer and Fabio Di Giannantonio, who sits fourth in the overall championship standings. Injured Japanese rider Ai Ogura did not compete in the race and dropped to fifth in the standings.
It was also the sixth consecutive Ducati victory at Aragon across sprints and Grands Prix this season.
