Türkiye’s national football team completed its final preparations on Thursday ahead of its decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup Group D encounter against Paraguay, with head coach Vincenzo Montella emphasizing confidence, focus and determination ahead of the match.
The Crescent-Stars held their final training session at PayPal Park in San Jose, California, as the team shifted its full attention to Friday’s fixture at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium. The match carries significant importance for Türkiye following a 2-0 defeat against Australia in the opening group game.
Speaking to reporters after the training session, Montella said his players remain motivated and ready to respond on the pitch.
“I trust myself and I trust them. When the first whistle blows, I hope they can play their best game with a clear mind,” the Italian coach said.
Montella acknowledged that Türkiye created several chances during the defeat to Australia but was unable to convert its attacking pressure into goals. Australia’s organized defensive structure and effective counter-attacking strategy secured the victory in the opening match.
The head coach also defended his squad, praising the players who helped Türkiye reach the World Cup stage and contributed to the country’s growing presence in international football. He reiterated his belief in the team’s potential and his commitment to the development of Turkish football.
With the Paraguay match approaching, Montella said the team’s focus remains firmly on securing a positive result and making supporters proud.
“We will do our best to make everyone in Türkiye happy,” he said.
Türkiye will later face the co-host nation, the United States, on June 25 in its final Group D match.
