Türkiye had entered the quarterfinals with an unbeaten record after four straight wins, raising hopes of reaching the semifinals for the first time in its history.

A victory would have set up a clash against the winner of Italy vs Belgium, but the dream run came to an end against the reigning world champion.

Despite the defeat, Türkiye’s men’s team earned widespread praise for reaching the last eight of the tournament for the first time.
