Queens Park Rangers are reportedly considering former Türkiye international and coach Sergen Yalcin as a candidate for their vacant managerial position, according to British media reports.

QPR, who finished 15th in the Championship this past season, are expected to part ways with current head coach Marti Cifuentes.

The club is said to be compiling a shortlist for a possible successor, with Yalcin among the names being seriously evaluated.

The 51-year-old Turkish coach, who most recently managed Antalyaspor until January 2024, is currently without a team. Sources close to the coach say he has told his staff to "be ready," suggesting interest in a move abroad.

Former star eyeing move to England

Yalcin is widely regarded as one of the most gifted footballers in Türkiye’s history. A creative midfielder with an exceptional left foot, he played for all four of the country’s biggest clubs—Besiktas, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Trabzonspor—during a career spanning the 1990s and early 2000s.

After retiring, he turned to management and gained recognition for his tactical intelligence and fiery personality. His most notable success came in the 2020–21 season, when he led Besiktas to a league and cup double.

He remains the only figure in club history to win the Turkish Super Lig both as a player and as a manager.

Since then, Yalcin has coached multiple Super Lig clubs, including Gaziantepspor, Sivasspor, Alanyaspor, and Yeni Malatyaspor.

His coaching style has been described as bold and pragmatic, often relying on strong team spirit and tactical flexibility.

If appointed, Yalcin would be one of the rare Turkish coaches to take charge of an English side, potentially opening a new chapter in his already storied career.
