Rafael Leao has taken over Portugal's No. 7 jersey afterCristiano Ronaldo leftthe national team camp, and UEFA has also updated the Galatasaray player's squad number ahead of the match against Denmark.
The updated Portugal squad list showed Leao wearing No. 7, a jersey closely associated with Ronaldo, who wore the number for many years with the national team.
UEFA also changed Leao's listed Portugal shirt number to 7, confirming the switch before Portugal's UEFA Nations League meeting with Denmark in Copenhagen.
Ronaldo, 41, had left the Portugal camp and later said on social media that he would reveal the truth behind the reasons that led him to make the decision at a later stage.
Portugal have made a strong start to their UEFA Nations League campaign under Jorge Jesus, beating Wales and Norway in their opening two matches.
Those results have put Portugal at the top of League A Group 4 ahead of their game against Denmark in Copenhagen.
