Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly looking to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres after his decisive contribution to Spain's 2026 FIFA World Cup victory.
French newspaper L'Equipe reported that Real Madrid had placed the 26-year-old on its transfer agenda after he scored the winning goal in Spain's 1-0 victory over Argentina in the World Cup final on July 19.
Torres came off the bench during the second half before finding the net in extra time, securing Spain's title and being named Man of the Match.
PSG has also emerged as a potential destination for the Spain international. A move to the French club would bring Torres back together with PSG coach Luis Enrique, who previously worked with him in the Spanish national team.
Torres remains under contract with Barcelona until June 2027, meaning any interested club would have to work out an agreement with the Catalan side.
Barcelona signed him from Manchester City in January 2022 for a reported €55 million ($62.77 million), with a further €10 million included in potential performance-related payments. His contract was announced with a €1 billion buyout clause, a fee that allows a player to terminate a Spanish club contract if it is paid in full.
Neither Barcelona nor the clubs linked with Torres have announced formal negotiations or submitted a confirmed offer, according to the information provided.
Born in Foios, Spain, Torres came through Valencia's youth system before breaking into the club's senior team in 2017. He later moved to Manchester City in 2020, where he won the Premier League and the English League Cup before returning to Spain with Barcelona.
Although he built his early career mainly as a winger, Torres has increasingly taken up a central role as a striker. His pace, movement, ability to finish with either foot and strength in the air have allowed him to operate across Barcelona's attacking line.
Torres helped Barcelona secure a domestic treble during the 2024-25 campaign and followed it up with his best scoring season for the club, netting 21 goals as Barcelona won another La Liga title.
At international level, he made his senior Spain debut in 2020 and has represented the country at the 2022 and 2026 World Cups, as well as Euro 2020 and Euro 2024. He was part of the Spain team that won Euro 2024 before scoring the decisive goal in the 2026 World Cup final.
