Mohamed Salah stated on his X account that "nothing in my career ever came easy," pledging his continued commitment to Trabzonspor after the club's elimination from the UEFA Europa League playoffs at the hands of Ferencvaros.
"Bad nights and disappointments are part of football, and I have learned to turn them into motivation and into trophies. Trabzonspor is my club, and I am part of this project, body and soul. Last night will not change that. I know expectations are high, and I truly believe we can and will deliver. 'I came here to win' is not just a slogan to me," Salah wrote.
The message came after Trabzonspor was eliminated from the Europa League playoffs following a 5-0 aggregate defeat to Hungarian side Ferencvaros. Trabzonspor lost the first leg 1-0 at home before falling 4-0 away in the second leg, a match in which the team was reduced to nine players following two red cards.
The heavy defeat prompted head coach Fatih Tekke to offer his resignation immediately after the final whistle, citing the emotional intensity of the loss. Trabzonspor's board rejected the resignation, confirming Tekke would remain in charge for the club's upcoming Super Lig fixture against Amedspor.

Salah signed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor in Aug. 2026 following the expiry of his deal with Liverpool. Under the agreement, which runs through the summer of 2028, Salah receives a guaranteed €17 million ($19.6 million) per season, comprising a €10 million annual salary and a €7 million signing bonus, along with 20% of proceeds from products sold under his name and additional performance-related bonuses.
The move made him the highest-paid player in the Turkish Super Lig and marked one of the most high-profile transfers in the competition's history. Salah previously spent nine years at Liverpool, scoring 257 goals in 442 appearances while winning the Champions League and two Premier League titles.
