Turkish football club Trabzonspor, based in Türkiye's Black Sea province of Trabzon, have parted ways with coach Fatih Tekke, according to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.
The move follows a turbulent week for the club. Tekke offered his resignation Thursday after Trabzonspor suffered a 4-0 away defeat to Hungary's Ferencvaros, a result that eliminated the Turkish side from the UEFA Europa League playoff round.
Trabzonspor's board initially rejected the resignation, saying Tekke would remain in charge and lead the team in its upcoming Turkish Super Lig (Türkiye's top football division) match against Amedspor.
In a statement posted on the club's website earlier in the week, Tekke thanked Trabzonspor President Ertugrul Dogan, the board, players and coaching staff for their support following the defeat. "As I said yesterday, we will be a very good team," Tekke said at the time, adding that the squad would address its shortcomings and grow stronger with each passing day.
"We will put up the fight that Trabzonspor deserves," he said, adding that the club had "major goals to achieve in the league and in Europe."
Tekke also said he believed in his players' character and what the team could achieve together, and that it was time to "draw a line" under the Ferencvaros result and look ahead.
Despite the board's initial show of support, Trabzonspor and Tekke have since parted ways.
Tekke, 48, a former Trabzonspor captain, took charge in March 2025. He guided Trabzonspor to third place in the Turkish Super Lig last season with 69 points, along with a Turkish Cup title.
