The 2025-26 NBA season tipped off with an exciting opening matchup between the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets, featuring Turkish star Alperen Sengun.
In a thrilling double-overtime battle, the Thunder edged past the Rockets 125-124, but it was Sengun who stole the spotlight with a stellar all-around performance.
Sengun logged 49 minutes on the floor, posting 39 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and one block—leading all scorers on the night.
The Turkish center also set a new career high by knocking down five three-pointers in the season opener.
The Houston Rockets will host the Detroit Pistons next on Saturday.
