Bahattin Sofuoglu finished 16th in the first race and 15th in the second race of the World Superbike Championship season opener in Australia.
The races were held at the 4.4-kilometer Phillip Island circuit, which shares the same name as the island.
Competing for the Motoxracing Yamaha team, Sofuoglu started the opening race from 19th on the grid and completed it in 16th place.
Nicolo Bulega of the Aruba Ducati team won the first race, while Yari Montella of Barni Spark finished second and Lorenzo Baldassarri of Goeleven came third.
In the Superpole race, Sofuoglu placed 19th. He then finished the second race in 15th place, securing his first point of the season.
Bulega won the second race, with Axel Bassani of Bimota by Kawasaki finishing second and Alvaro Bautista of Barni Spark taking third place.
Having won all three races in Australia, Bulega moved to the top of the riders’ standings with 62 points.
Sofuoglu is ranked 18th in the championship standings after the opening round.
The second round of the Superbike and Supersport championships will be held in Portugal on March 28-29.
In the World Supersport Championship, the support category of Superbike, Can Oncu competed for the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate team.
Oncu started the first race in fourth position and crossed the checkered flag in fifth place. He also finished fifth in the second race.
Oncu collected 22 points in the Australian round and ranks sixth in the riders’ standings.
