Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu responded strongly to comments made by club captain Lautaro Martinez and president Giuseppe Marotta, amid rising tensions over his future at the club.

After Inter’s defeat to Fluminense in the Club World Cup, Martinez hinted at internal discord, stating: "Those who don’t want to stay here should leave. My message is clear."

Marotta later confirmed the remarks were directed at Calhanoglu, saying: "If a player no longer wants to be part of this club, it is only right for him to leave."

In a statement shared with Turkish media, Calhanoglu voiced his disappointment over the accusations: "Those were harsh and divisive words. Throughout my career, I’ve never made excuses—I’ve taken responsibility, played through pain, and stood at the front in difficult times. We’ll see what the future holds. But history remembers not those who make the most noise, but those who stand firm."

The midfielder, who still has two years remaining on his contract with Inter, has been linked with a move to Galatasaray—his childhood club in Türkiye. Reports also suggest Premier League sides Manchester United and Fulham have made contact with his representatives.

No official transfer talks have been confirmed, but the situation between Calhanoglu and Inter appears increasingly strained.
