L’Etape by Tour de France will take place in Marmaris as part of the international amateur cycling series linked to the Tour de France.

The event will bring riders from around the world to the coastal district where the Aegean and Mediterranean meet.

Amaury Sport Organisation, organiser of the Tour de France, will run the race with 78 Event. The series operates in 35 cities across 20 countries. Officials said the Marmaris course will reflect the Tour de France mountain stage tradition.

Mugla Deputy Governor Halil Serdar Cevheroglu said Mugla offers strong conditions for cycling due to its climate and geography.

Marmaris Mayor Acar Unlu said the Tour de France tradition will meet Marmaris nature and sports vision. Event director Omer Kafkas said the project aims to create long term value and inspire young people.

Athletes who rank in their categories in Marmaris will earn the right to compete in L’Etape du Tour in France. A second race, L’Etape Türkiye by Tour de France, will take place on 20 September 2026. Registration has opened for both events.

The Meteorology General Directorate issued a heavy rain warning for Mugla coastal districts for the evening of 29 January 2026.

Officials said heavy rain will affect Mugla and very heavy rain will hit coastal zones. The agency warned of flooding, lightning, strong winds during rainfall, possible waterspouts, and transport disruptions.

Residents and visitors were urged to take precautions.
