Turkish gymnast Arican claims silver in Zagreb

Turkish gymnast Ferhat Arican won the silver medal in the parallel bars final at the 2026 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, held in the Croatian capital of Zagreb.

Türkiye was represented by Arican and Altan Dogan in the parallel bars final, which featured eight gymnasts.

Arican scored 14.300 points to finish second, securing Türkiye's only medal in the event. Illia Kovtun of host nation Croatia won gold with 14.700 points, while Britain's Joe Fraser took bronze, also scoring 14.300 points.

Dogan, competing in his first career European final, scored 14.100 points to finish fifth.

Ninth medal at European level

The result marked Arican's ninth medal at the European Championships and his fourth silver, adding to two golds and three bronzes from previous editions. He remains the only Turkish gymnast with an Olympic medal in the sport's history.

Arican last won silver at the 2023 European Championships in Antalya, repeating the feat three years later in Zagreb.
