The Turkish men’s national volleyball team has achieved a historic milestone by climbing into the top 10 of the FIVB world rankings for the first time, following its performance in the 2026 Volleyball Nations League (VNL).
Competing in the second VNL stage held in Gliwice, Poland; Türkiye faced China, hosts Poland, Argentina and Belgium. The team recorded three victories in four matches, delivering one of its strongest performances in recent years.
Türkiye opened the stage with a dominant 3–0 win over China, before narrowly losing 3–2 to reigning world champions Poland.
In its third match, the team produced a notable comeback against Argentina, recovering from a 2–0 deficit to win 3–2. The stage concluded with another 3–0 victory, this time against Belgium.
With these results, Türkiye completed the second stage with five wins and three losses, placing seventh in the overall VNL standings.
Following the completion of the stage, Türkiye advanced to ninth place in the FIVB world rankings, marking the first time the national team has entered the top 10 in its history.
Türkiye will next compete in the third and final VNL stage, to be held in Belgrade, Serbia. The team is scheduled to face Serbia, Ukraine, Slovenia, and Iran.
Under the tournament format, the top eight teams qualify for the finals; however, adjustments may apply depending on the ranking of the host nation.
As a result, the upcoming matches are expected to be decisive in determining final standings.
