In the Round of 16 at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Real Madrid secured a spot in the quarterfinals with a narrow 1-0 victory over Juventus.
Young Turkish talents Arda Guler and Kenan Yildiz both featured in the starting lineups. Guler played 78 minutes for Real Madrid, while Yildiz represented Juventus for 71 minutes.
The match, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, remained goalless through the first half with both teams struggling to break the deadlock despite several chances.
Real Madrid came out strong after the break and found the breakthrough in the 54th minute, thanks to a well-placed strike by Gonzalo Garcia. The Spanish side held onto their 1-0 lead until the final whistle, securing their place in the quarterfinals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
After the match, Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso spoke positively about Arda Guler’s performance.
Alonso emphasized the importance of the entire team, saying, “We don’t just need Arda Guler, we need everyone. Arda is doing a great job, but football is not about just one player.”
The Spanish coach highlighted the collective effort required for success while acknowledging Arda’s promising contributions.
