Türkiye beats Hungary 3-0 for 3rd straight win at European Volleyball Championship

Türkiye’s National Women’s Volleyball Team defeated Hungary 3-0 on Monday in its third Group A match at the Trendyol 2026 Women’s European Volleyball Championship.

With the result, Türkiye made it three wins in three matches, while Hungary suffered its second defeat of the tournament.

The match began with errors from both sides. In a closely contested first set, Türkiye struggled to find its rhythm.

After Hungary took an 18-16 lead, head coach Daniele Santarelli called a timeout.

The Crescent-Stars tied the score after a Bozoki-Szedmak attacking error made it 21-21, then won the set 26-24 with Melissa Vargas’ service run to take a 1-0 lead.

Türkiye takes control through Vargas

The second set also continued with points exchanged by both teams.

Türkiye asserted itself through Vargas and won the set 25-21, extending its lead to 2-0.

In the third set, Hungary called a timeout after Türkiye widened the gap to three points at 10-7.

After the timeout, Hungary struggled to recover, while Türkiye was effective at the net with blocks and took control of the game.

The national team won the third set 25-14 to seal a 3-0 victory.

Turkish Volleyball Federation President Mehmet Akif Ustundag and Turkish National Paralympic Committee President Murat Aksu watched the match from the stands.

Türkiye will face Germany in its fourth match of the tournament on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
