Türkiye opens 2025 Volleyball Nations League with 3–1 win over France

Türkiye’s women’s national volleyball team opened its 2025 FIVB Volleyball Nations League campaign with a 3-1 win over France on Wednesday.

The match took place at Qujiang Sports Center in Beijing. Türkiye won with set scores of 25-17, 23-25, 25-13 and 25-14.

Deniz Uyanik led the scoring for Türkiye with 16 points, followed by Alexia Carutasu with 15 and Yaprak Erkek with 14. Asli Kalac added 13 points. Other contributions came from Saliha Sahin (7), Derya Cebecioglu (4), Hande Baladin (4) and Elif Sahin (2).

France’s squad included Ndiaye, Fanguedou, Mayer, Rotar, Depie and Haewegene, with substitutions by Gelin, Respaut, Schalk and Ngolongolo. The match officials were Mohamd Ismail Fahad of Qatar and Luo Wensheng of China.

Türkiye will face Thailand in its second match on Friday, at 2:30 p.m. (GMT +3).

The victory marks a strong start to the summer season for the reigning champions, known as the “Sultans of the Net.”
