Türkiye's women's national volleyball team claimed a straight-sets victory over Thailand (25-23, 25-14, 25-22) in their second match of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL), held in Beijing on Friday.
Head coach Daniele Santarelli started the match with Dilay, Derya, Berka Buse, Aleksiya, Yaprak, Deniz, and libero Eylul. The match marked the first official senior caps for Eylul and Berka Buse, while Aycin Akyol was not included in the 14-player match squad.
Despite some resistance from the Thai defense in the opening set, Türkiye prevailed 25-23, with balanced scoring contributions and effective blocking. The second set saw Türkiye dominate with a 25-14 win, highlighted by strong performances from Dilay, Derya, and Berka Buse. The third set followed a similar pattern, with Türkiye closing out the match 25-22 to secure their second win of the tournament.
Türkiye finished the match with 8 blocks in the second set alone and added 2.31 points to their FIVB world ranking, reaching 354.93 points and holding the 4th position. Thailand dropped to 182.19 points and fell to 16th place.
Türkiye now prepares to face Poland in their third VNL match on Saturday, June 7, with the game scheduled to start at 10:00 local time.
