Türkiye is set to be represented by two clubs in the UEFA Champions League for the sixth time in the competition's history, as Galatasaray and Fenerbahce both secured spots in the tournament's league phase for the 2026-2027 season.

Galatasaray qualified directly for Europe's top club competition, while Fenerbahce advanced after defeating its opponents in the qualifying rounds.

The two Istanbul-based clubs previously competed in the Champions League together during the 2001-2002 season.

A 19-year wait

The achievement ends a 19-year gap since Türkiye last had two teams in the tournament's group or league phase.

The competition has been played under the UEFA Champions League name since the 1992-1993 season, and Turkish clubs have never had more than two teams competing in a single edition.

The last time Türkiye had two representatives in the group stage was the 2007-2008 season, when Fenerbahce and Besiktas both competed.

Besiktas finished last in Group A with 6 points and was eliminated, while Fenerbahce reached the quarterfinals before Chelsea knocked them out, narrowly missing a semifinal berth.
