The Turkish Football Federation has announced that the Türkiye national football team will play two international friendly matches in June as part of its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to the statement, Türkiye will face North Macedonia national football team on June 1 in Istanbul. The team will then travel to the United States to take on Venezuela national football team on June 6 in Fort Lauderdale.

The federation noted that the specific stadiums and kick-off times for both fixtures will be confirmed at a later date.

Contrasting tests ahead of tournament

North Macedonia, currently ranked 67th in the FIFA world rankings, is a familiar opponent for Türkiye. The two sides have met eight times, with Türkiye holding the advantage with five wins, two draws and one defeat.

Venezuela, ranked 49th in the world, will present a different kind of challenge. The June 6 fixture will mark the first-ever senior international meeting between the two nations.
