Türkiye wins 14 medals at the 2026 Balkan Athletics Indoor Championships

Türkiye, winning 14 medals at the Balkan Indoor Athletics Championship held in Serbia, topped the overall standings.

According to the statement from the Turkish Athletics Federation, the national team participated in the championship in the capital Belgrade with 38 athletes. The national athletes, who won 4 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze medals at the event, finished first as a team ahead of Bulgaria and Croatia.

Federation president Ahmet Karadag, whose views were included in the statement, said: "The Balkan championship we achieved as a team by winning 14 medals in Belgrade has once again proven that Turkish athletics is on the right track."

"I congratulate all our athletes and technical staff who contributed to this important achievement, and I hope that our successes will continue to grow," he added.

The athletes who won medals at the championship are as follows:

Gold:

  • Men's 4x400 Meter Relay Team (Ilyas Canakci, Ihsan Selcuk, Eren Keser, Kubilay Encu)
  • Eda Nur Tulum (400 meters)
  • Sumeyye Erol (3,000 meters)
  • Emel Dereli (Shot put)

Silver:

  • Omer Faruk Bozdag (800 meters)
  • Necati Er (Triple Jump)
  • Mikdat Sevler (60 meters hurdles)
  • Yasemin Zehra Borekci (Long Jump)

Bronze:

  • Women's 4x400 Meter Relay Team (Elif Polat, Zeynep Ozkara, Elif Ilgaz, Eda Nur Tulum)
  • Ertan Ozkan (60 meters)
  • Kiyasettin Kara (3,000 meters)
  • Elif Polat (400 meters)
  • Derya Kunur (1,500 meters)
  • Demet Parlak (Pole vault)
