Türkiye's national team won four gold medals, one silver and three bronze on the sixth day of the 20th Mediterranean Games, being held in Taranto, Italy, bringing its overall tally to 45 medals and second place in the standings.
In shooting, Safiye Temizdemir won gold in the women's trap event, becoming the first Turkish woman to claim a title in the category at the Mediterranean Games.
Hatice Gokce Emir took gold in the rhythmic gymnastics all-around final with a score of 106.850 points, marking Türkiye's first-ever Mediterranean Games medal in the discipline.
In badminton, Neslihan Arin defeated Italy's Yasmine Hamza 2-0, with set scores of 21-17 and 21-15, to win the women's singles title. The result marked her fourth consecutive Mediterranean Games singles championship.
In finswimming, Kaan Efe Kaya won gold in the men's 400-meter bi-fins event with a time of 3:30.20, delivering Türkiye's first gold medal in the discipline, which appeared on the official program for the first time. Emre Gurdenli added a silver in the men's 100-meter bi-fins event, finishing in 42.71 seconds.
In boxing, Ece Asude Ediz (57 kilograms), Sude Nur Aslan (75 kg) and Dilara Sak (70 kg) each won bronze medals after losing in their respective semifinal bouts.
In volleyball, the women's national team defeated Kosovo 3-0, with set scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-18, in its third Group B match, completing the group stage with three wins from three matches. The team is set to face Greece in its fourth and final group match.
In football, the under-20 national team was eliminated after losing 2-1 to Tunisia in its final Group A match. Mohamed Rayen Anene put Tunisia ahead in the 36th minute, before Taha Emre Ince's own goal doubled the lead in the 56th minute. Ozder Ozcan pulled a goal back for Türkiye in the 65th minute, but the team was unable to level the score.
Türkiye finished Group A in third place with four points, missing out on the semifinals on goal average behind Morocco, which finished with the same points total.
With the day's results, Türkiye's overall medal count at the Games rose to 45, comprising 21 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze medals, placing the country second in the medal table behind host nation Italy.
