Türkiye's national judo team for athletes with Down syndrome went undefeated in the mixed team category at the 2026 JUDOWN World Championships in Lindesberg, Sweden, finishing top of the standings, the Turkish Special Athletes Sports Federation announced.
The JUDOWN World Championships, organized for judokas with Down syndrome, ran from Aug. 5-9 in the Swedish city of Lindesberg.
The national mixed team—made up of Sevval Devrim, Musa Alan, Ahmet Unal, Zeynep Sude Bilginer, Dogukan Cosar and Talha Ahmet Erdem—defeated Sweden and Poland 5-0 and Portugal 4-1 in the group stage to reach the semifinals. The team then beat Finland 3-2 in the semifinal before facing Poland again in the final, winning 5-0 to secure the unbeaten title.
In the winning lineup, Firuze Ferda Sevval Devrim competed in the 57-kilogram category; Musa Alan in 66 kg; Ahmet Unal in 81 kg; Zeynep Sude Bilginer in the over-57-kilogram category; Dogukan Cosar in the over-81-kilogram category; and Talha Ahmet Erdem in the mixed over-81-kg category.
A day earlier, the same national team collected six gold medals and one silver in individual competitions at the championships.
Firuze Ferda Sevval Devrim won gold in the 52-kilogram category and Zeynep Sude Bilginer in the over-78-kilogram category among the women, while Musa Alan (66 kg), Ahmet Unal (73 kg), Dogukan Cosar (100 kg) and Talha Ahmet Erdem (mixed 73 kg) won gold among the men. Ahmet Eymen Danaci took silver in the 55-kilogram category.
