Türkiye's young weightlifters picked up six more medals, including four golds, on the second day of the European Junior and Under-23 Weightlifting Championships in Durres, Albania, bringing the national team's overall medal tally to 20.

According to the Turkish Weightlifting Federation, Burak Aykun and Mustafa Elis each secured two gold medals in their respective 65 kg categories, while Harun Algul added a silver in the men's under-23 competition.

Aykun and Elis secure four gold medals

Competing in the junior men's 65 kg category, Aykun claimed gold in the clean and jerk with a lift of 158 kg and another gold in the combined total with 281 kg. He also lifted 123 kg in the snatch.

In the under-23 men's 65 kg division, Elis matched Aykun's two-gold performance, lifting 154 kg in the clean and jerk and finishing with a combined total of 277 kg. He also picked up silver in the snatch with a 123 kg lift.

Weightlifting competitions award separate medals for the snatch, in which athletes lift the barbell overhead in one movement, the clean and jerk, which involves two movements, and the combined total of both lifts.

Türkiye's medal tally rises to 20

Harun Algul rounded out Türkiye's second-day results by winning silver in the snatch in the under-23 men's 60 kg category with a lift of 119 kg.
