Sonmez advances to second round in Eastbourne Open after comeback win

Turkish tennis player Zeynep Sonmez has reached the second round of the Eastbourne Open after defeating British player Harriet Dart in a thrilling three-set match.

The 24-year-old national athlete, ranked 54th in the world, faced world No. 86 Dart in the opening round of the WTA 250 tournament held in Eastbourne, England.

After making her way into the main draw through the qualifiers, Sonmez secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory with a scoreline of 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Sonmez will face Czech player Sara Bejlek in the second round at the grass-court tournament.
