Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is attending the first G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting under South Africa’s G20 Presidency, taking place in Johannesburg on Feb. 20-21, 2025.
Fidan is set to participate in key sessions, including the opening session and a session focusing on the "Global Geopolitical Situation."
Additionally, he is expected to attend discussions on "G20 Goals for 2025: South Africa’s Presidency, High-Level Outcomes and G20 Accountability."
During these sessions, he is expected to outline Türkiye's stance on major international and regional issues, such as the conflicts in Gaza, Syria, Lebanon and the Russia-Ukraine war.
He is also expected to emphasize the importance of the G20 platform in addressing global challenges.
Ahead of the G20 sessions, Fidan will take part in the 27th MIKTA Foreign Ministers Meeting, a platform comprising Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Türkiye and Australia.
This gathering aims to strengthen multilateral cooperation among the five nations.
According to foreign ministry sources, Fidan is also scheduled to hold several bilateral talks with key foreign officials on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
