This statement came during a telephone conversation on Friday with his U.S. counterpart, Antony Blinken, in which the situation in Syria was a key topic of discussion, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.
Urgency of preventing terrorist exploitation of chaos in Syria
During the call, Fidan emphasized that the chaos in Syria should not be allowed to benefit terrorist organizations that pose a threat to regional and global security.
He underscored the need to prevent groups like Daesh and the PKK/YPG terrorist group from exploiting the situation for their own agendas.

Calls for dialogue, political process
Fidan also stressed that, in light of the ongoing conflict, the Syrian regime must take a more realistic approach.
He called for the regime to engage in dialogue with the opposition and initiate a political process aimed at achieving stability. "It is crucial that all actors in the region play a constructive role," Fidan noted, signaling the need for coordinated efforts in tackling Syria's political and humanitarian crises.
