"Türkiye is a strategic partner in the Mediterranean," said Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, following his meeting on Tuesday, July 16, with Trade Minister Omer Bolat.

Tajani, who met with Bolat at the G-7 Trade Ministers Meeting in Reggio Calabria, Italy, emphasized Italy's intention to expand and strengthen cooperation with Türkiye starting from economic matters.

Bolat, in turn, expressed mutual expectations to increase bilateral trade volume to $30 billion this year and agreed with Tajani to hold a Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO) meeting in Istanbul soon, with comprehensive participation from business representatives of both countries.
