Türkiye competes at top in Fiber-to-the-Home across Europe
Türkiye places second in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH/B) access in Europe, following France, according to the ‘FTTH/B Market Panorama in Europe’ report based on September 2023 data from the FTTH Council Europe
Türkiye has emerged as a significant contender in the realm of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH/B) access across Europe, securing the second position after France, as revealed by the latest report titled “FTTH/B Market Panorama in Europe” by the FTTH Council Europe.
The report, relying on data from September 2023, underscores Türkiye’s strides in providing fiber connectivity directly to households.
According to a statement from Turk Telekom, the telecommunications giant has diligently pursued fiber infrastructure projects, extending the fiber network to cover a distance of 437,000 kilometers (271539.2 miles) by the end of 2023.
This accomplishment has elevated Türkiye to the second spot in FTTH/B access across Europe, as recognized by the FTTH Council Europe.
We have woven Türkiye from east to west, north to south
CEO of Turk Telekom, Umit Onal, highlighted Türkiye’s pivotal role in the digital transformation journey, emphasizing the company’s commitment to providing fast and uninterrupted communication services demanded by the new digital era.
“We have woven Türkiye from east to west, north to south, with fiber networks to deliver the requisite communication services for the new digital world,” Onal stated.
Onal further emphasized Turk Telekom’s commitment to expanding fiber investments annually, ensuring coverage in profitable regions and remote areas.
“According to the 3rd quarter data of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) of Türkiye, Turk Telekom alone has established 427,000 kilometers of the total 549,000 kilometers of fiber network. By the end of 2023, we have extended our fiber network to 437,000 kilometers,” he stated.
Türkiye ranks among top five countries in terms of fiber infrastructure
“Türkiye ranks second in fiber-to-the-home access with 18 million households, according to the report prepared by FTTH Council Europe based on September 2023 data. Previously, we held the third position, and this rapid ascent underscores our steadfast dedication to fiber infrastructure.
Additionally, being among the top five countries in Europe’s FTTH access and subscriber growth is a source of pride for us,” Umit Onal noted.
