Turkish authorities detained 1,713 suspects across 77 provinces during the nationwide “Narkokapan-5” operation, conducted over the past two weeks, Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Monday.
The raids were conducted in coordination with public prosecutor’s offices and the Narcotics Crimes Department of the General Directorate of Security.
Yerlikaya emphasized that each operation and seized substance serves to protect the future, particularly by keeping young people away from drugs. The large-scale operation reflects Türkiye’s determination to combat narcotics and safeguard public health and security.
Minister Yerlikaya underscored that these measures are “a fight to protect our future,” calling on all segments of society to unite in preventing drug abuse among young people. The operation’s success illustrates the collaborative approach of local prosecutors, law enforcement, and national authorities in tackling drug-related crimes.
The “Narkokapan-5” crackdown is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle drug networks and deter substance abuse in Türkiye. As authorities continue large-scale operations, community engagement and awareness remain vital for strengthening the nation’s drug prevention strategies.
