A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao in the southern Philippines on Wednesday, although authorities issued no tsunami alert and reported no immediate casualties or infrastructure damage.
According to the German Research Center for Geosciences, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, or around 6.2 miles.
No further information was immediately available regarding its impact on coastal communities or infrastructure.
The Philippines sits along the Pacific Ring of Fire, one of the world's most active seismic zones, where four major tectonic plates meet and earthquakes occur frequently.
