Ukrainian drone strikes hit the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refinery in Russia's Bashkortostan region overnight, striking a target roughly 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, according to media reports. In a separate attack, drones sparked fires at a refinery and an industrial facility in Russia's Krasnodar region.
Ukrainian outlet RBC-Ukraine, citing the Telegram channel Exilenova+, reported that the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat refinery came under drone attack, with local residents reporting numerous strikes on the facility.
Fire and smoke were reported at the site following the attack.
Bashkortostan head Radiy Khabirov said in a statement on Telegram that a "mass attack by enemy UAVs" on the industrial zone in the city of Salavat had been repelled.
"A number of smoke sources caused by falling debris from downed drones have been reported. Emergency services have begun addressing the aftermath; sufficient personnel and resources are available. There are no casualties," Khabirov said.
Eyewitnesses described a series of explosions, with social media video showing dark plumes of smoke rising over the refinery grounds, according to Russian media reports.
Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is one of Russia's largest oil refining and petrochemical complexes, combining an oil refinery, a gas chemical plant and the "Monomer" plant.
The facility has a full-cycle hydrocarbon processing capacity and produces more than 150 types of products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, polyethylene, ammonia, and urea.
Reuters reported that the plant processed 7.2 million tons of crude oil in 2024, accounting for 2.7% of Russia's total refining volume.
The refinery was struck twice by Ukrainian drones in September 2025, with a fire reported at a primary processing unit at the time; Khabirov said at the time that the facility continued operating normally following those attacks.
It was also reported that a fire broke out at the Afipsky Oil Refinery and an industrial facility in the Krasnodar region following drone strikes. Drone wreckage fell and sparked a fire at the Afipsky refinery, according to the Krasnodar regional headquarters on Tuesday.
The drone wreckage also injured one person in the Seversky district, who was subsequently hospitalized, while falling debris struck 16 separate properties across the villages of Afipsky, Smolenskaya, and Kovalenko.
The headquarters reported that falling drone wreckage damaged roofs, facades, windows, and fences across several private homes, while an apartment building sustained damage to its glass, a door, and a ceiling. Debris also struck a building at a railway crossing and fell on the territory of two enterprises, sparking a fire at one of the locations.
Additionally, fragments fell in the courtyard of a private home, while falling debris ignited roadside fires in the village of Kovalenko that were promptly extinguished. In the village of Smolenskaya, UAV fragments landed in the garden of a private household.
The incidents come as Ukrainian forces continue strikes on Russian oil refineries deep inside Russian territory.
