Mpox cases in Pakistan climb to 6
Pakistan has reported six cases of mpox virus till now, according to reports.
An individual living in the Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, who had recently returned from a Middle Eastern country, tested positive for the virus, according to a statement from the Pakistan Ministry of Health.
This person was placed in quarantine after testing positive during a health screening at Peshawar Airport.
It was noted that all six detected cases in Pakistan were found in individuals who had traveled from abroad.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the mpox virus a “public health emergency of international concern” on Aug. 14.
