Victoria Police detectives investigate American pop singer Katy Perry following sexual assault allegations from actor Ruby Rose.

The Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation team confirmed the inquiry on Wednesday. This investigation involves a 2010 incident at a licensed premises in the Melbourne central business district.

Perry's representative denied the claims and labeled them dangerous lies.

Ruby Rose shared her account through social media posts on the platform Threads.

She claimed Perry assaulted her at the Spice Market Nightclub in Melbourne. Rose described the incident where Perry touched her in a graphic and non-consensual manner. "Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at Spice Market Nightclub in Melbourne," Rose wrote.

She alleged the singer's actions caused her to projectile vomit. Rose waited almost two decades to speak publicly about the trauma.

Rose attributed the long delay to career concerns and psychological pressure.

She claimed Perry offered to help her secure a U.S. visa, which prompted Rose to keep the incident secret. Rose now claims she has photographs to corroborate her story.

She also noted that several people witnessed the alleged assault. The actor confirmed she finalized all reports to the police on Tuesday. She can no longer comment publicly on the ongoing case.

  • Visa support: Rose claimed Perry promised to assist with her U.S. visa application.
  • Trauma impact: The actor needed time to find her voice after the alleged assault.
  • Social pressure: Rose initially felt she had to frame the event as a joke.

Perry denies 'dangerous reckless' lies

A representative for Katy Perry issued a statement to Variety magazine.

The spokesperson called the allegations "categorically false, dangerous, and reckless." They claimed that "Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”

Perry currently maintains a high profile due to her relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Social media users recently reshared a 2014 interview with actor Anna Kendrick.

Kendrick described an interaction where Perry touched her cleavage without permission. Kendrick joked about the event during the interview, but called it "weird."

Meanwhile, an owner of the Spice Market Nightclub confirmed both celebrities attended the venue in 2010. The owner stated that both individuals had too much to drink.

Victoria state police refuse to comment further because the investigation remains active.
