Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of incumbent Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and Uganda’s chief of defense forces, threatened Türkiye in a social media post, saying his country would sever diplomatic relations within 30 days if its issues were not resolved before later deleting the message following backlash.

Kainerugaba, who also commands the Uganda People’s Defence Forces Special Operations Command, targeted Türkiye in a now-deleted post on social media.

“The real problem is Turkey! We have waited for them to rehabilitate themselves, but wapi! We are going to end ALL diplomatic relations with Turkey in the next 30 days,” he wrote.

In a separate post, he added: “We shall block their Airlines too!”

Known for controversial pro-Israel rhetoric

Kainerugaba has become known for provocative and controversial social media remarks, particularly his outspoken support for Israel.

In March, he publicly backed Israel during its attacks on Iran, saying Uganda could intervene “on Israel’s side” if any effort were made to destroy the country.

“I'm ready to deploy 100,000 Ugandan soldiers in Israel. Under my command. To protect the Holy Land. The land of Jesus Christ our God!,” he said in a post on X.

He claimed the Uganda People’s Defence Forces were prepared and said he had offered assistance to the United States and Israel.

Some of Kainerugaba’s previous statements have also drawn controversy.

In another deleted post, he claimed Ugandan forces could “capture Tehran in 72 hours without bombing it.”
