Russian President Vladimir Putin said the United Arab Emirates is one of the suitable places for a meeting with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump.

Putin answered journalists' questions on Tuesday while hosting United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Kremlin Palace.

Putin, indicating he would meet with U.S. President Trump in the coming days, said both sides showed interest in the high-level meeting.

Kremlin confirms summit preparations

Kremlin Foreign Policy Advisor Yury Ushakov announced that an agreement had been reached for a Putin-Trump meeting following discussions with U.S. President Trump's Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, who visited Moscow yesterday.

"An agreement has been reached for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in the coming days. Summit preparations have begun. The meeting venue has also been decided and will be announced shortly," Ushakov stated.

He noted that next week was set as a reference date for the meeting, saying preparations were business-focused and constructive.

Ushakov revealed that Witkoff proposed a trilateral meeting between Trump, Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but "Moscow left this unanswered and suggested focusing on bilateral summit preparations."

Putin separately told journalists he was not opposed to meeting Zelenskyy but said "certain conditions need to be created for this to happen. Unfortunately, we are still far from creating these conditions."

Ukraine crisis resolution focus

Ushakov said the Witkoff meeting addressed "common steps toward resolving the Ukraine crisis" and emphasized that "Russia-U.S. relations can be built according to a scenario that is significantly different from recent years and provides mutual benefit."

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also spoke by phone with Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, addressing the latest situation regarding Russia-Ukraine negotiations, according to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources.

The Moscow Stock Exchange rose 4.5 percent following the Kremlin's summit announcement, with the MOEX index climbing above 2,888 points. The Russian ruble gained 0.79 percent against the dollar, falling to 79.45 rubles per USD.
