Sudanese Foreign Minister Mohieldin Salem condemned the international community’s silence over ongoing “violations” committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in el-Fasher, North Darfur, and Bara, North Kordofan, during a meeting Monday in Port Sudan with International Organization for Migration (IOM) Director General Amy Pope.

The meeting took place as the Sudanese army prepares to advance westward to eliminate the RSF from Darfur under the orders of army chief and Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.

According to the official SUNA news agency, Salem denounced “the international community’s silence over the ongoing violations committed by the RSF in el-Fasher and Bara,” calling for “concerted international efforts to designate the RSF as a terrorist organization.”

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating humanitarian work and ensuring the safety of aid workers, highlighting ongoing cooperation with the IOM in supporting the voluntary return of Sudanese migrants.

Pope expressed solidarity with Sudan following the RSF’s recent takeover of el-Fasher and the “grave, widespread violations committed against residents and civilians,” which forced large numbers to flee to al-Dabba in the Northern State and Tawila in North Darfur.

She also reaffirmed the IOM’s commitment to addressing the humanitarian needs of displaced people in the affected areas.

During her five-day visit, Pope will meet several Sudanese officials and visit al-Dabba and Khartoum to assess the conditions of displaced persons and review governmental efforts in reconstruction, development, and voluntary return.

Army ordered to advance on Darfur

Darfur Governor Mini Arko Minnawi announced that Sudanese army forces will move west under Burhan’s instructions “to liberate all Sudan, reaching the furthest point in Um Dafuq,” a border town in South Darfur state.

“There will be no erasing of the traces of crimes committed by the RSF leaders,” Minnawi said, rejecting the RSF’s claim of arresting commander Abu Lulu, accused of killing hundreds of civilians in el-Fasher, as “a political theater that will not change the facts.”

According to Egypt’s state-run Al-Qahera News channel, Sudanese army forces shelled an RSF military camp on Tuesday in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state. There was no immediate comment from the RSF.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty also arrived in Sudan on Tuesday for talks with Sudanese officials. Cairo remains a key supporter of the Sudanese government.
