Türkiye to send new aid batch as Venezuela thanks Ankara

Türkiye is expected to send more aid to Venezuela following two major earthquakes, Foreign Minister Yvan Gil said, thanking Ankara for its search-and-rescue support.

Gil said Venezuela had received news of additional aid from Türkiye and was awaiting the new support, according to Anadolu Agency.

"We have received news of new aid and we are waiting for the support," Gil said.

"We feel the support of the Turkish people, our brothers, with us at every moment," he added.

Gil said the latest developments showed the close relationship between Türkiye and Venezuela.

"These latest events also show that we are two countries that understand each other, brotherly nations," he said.

Gil thanks Türkiye for rescue teams and equipment

Gil and Venezuelan Defense Minister Gustavo Gonzalez Lopez visited Turkish search-and-rescue teams working in La Guaira, the epicenter of the twin earthquake disaster.

After the visit, Gil thanked Türkiye for its support following the earthquakes.

"We want to thank the Turkish government, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and all his team deployed in Venezuela for not withholding their support in the middle of such a major crisis," Gil told Anadolu.

Gil said the presence of the Turkish delegation, search-and-rescue teams and equipment brought to Venezuela was of great importance.

"The presence of the Turkish delegation, the search and rescue teams and the equipment they brought with them is really very important," he said.

Fidan, Gil discuss aid coordination by phone

Gil said he personally spoke by phone with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss the coordination of aid activities.

"I personally spoke by phone with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to address the coordination of these aid activities, and we are truly grateful for all the support provided," Gil said.

Gil said Türkiye's assistance during the crisis reflected the bond between the two countries and their peoples.
