Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia remains open to reaching its goals through peace talks, while accusing Ukraine of being unwilling to continue efforts toward a peaceful resolution of the crisis.

Speaking to reporters in Moscow, Peskov said Russia supports a peaceful solution to the Ukraine crisis and that President Vladimir Putin is also open to that path.

"Russia is open to achieving its goals through peace negotiations. Russian President Vladimir Putin is also open to this," Peskov said.

Peskov: Kyiv lacks intention of peaceful solution

Peskov accused Kyiv of lacking the intention to continue the peaceful settlement process.

"In a situation where Kyiv is unwilling for a peaceful solution, we are continuing the special military operation in Ukraine," Peskov said.

He said Ukraine was trying to increase tensions, while Russia continued to expand what he called a security zone in Ukraine.

"While the Ukrainian side is trying to escalate tensions, we continue to expand the security zone in Ukraine," Peskov said.

Peskov also said the Ukrainian army had intensified attacks on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is under Russian control.

He described the situation as extremely dangerous.

Peskov said Russia is in contact with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the issue.

Kremlin says contacts with US, Türkiye continue

Peskov said a phone call between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump had not yet taken place.

He added that Moscow was continuing contacts with the U.S. side.

Peskov was also asked about reports in Turkish media claiming Türkiye had sold its S-400 systems to another country to avoid U.S. sanctions, and whether Türkiye had asked Russia for permission on the issue.

"This is a very sensitive issue," Peskov said. "We have had contacts with Türkiye on this issue. We will continue contacts with the Turkish side on this matter."
