German insurance giant Allianz has appointed its long-time Türkiye Chief Financial Officer Ersin Pak to lead its Greece business, where he will take over as chief executive of Allianz European Reliance.

Pak will assume the CEO role starting from September, subject to regulatory approval, replacing Vasilis Christidis, who has led Allianz Greece since 2024. Christidis will move to Allianz Italia as Head of Commercial Transformation after overseeing the leadership handover.

Leadership change comes after NBG partnership

The appointment comes after Allianz struck a strategic partnership with the National Bank of Greece (NBG) in May 2026.

Under the deal, NBG plans to acquire a 30% minority stake in Allianz Greece, while the two sides have signed an exclusive 10-year bancassurance agreement designed to expand the distribution of insurance and savings products through the Greek lender's network.

Allianz said the leadership transition supports a structured succession process tied to the partnership and reflects the company's focus on strengthening its position in the Greek insurance market.

It added that Pak is well placed to unlock the partnership's full potential and guide the business through its next stage of growth.

More than 25 years with Allianz

Pak has spent 25 years and six months with Allianz Türkiye, including the past decade as chief financial officer and executive board member.

During his career, he has overseen acquisitions, managed consolidation processes and led transformation programs across the pension, life and general insurance businesses.

Born in Bursa in 1977, Pak graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a degree in industrial engineering. He joined Koc Allianz in 2001 and went on to hold senior positions in product development, pricing and finance before becoming CFO of Allianz Türkiye.
