Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced on Thursday that Antalya set a new tourism record in 2025, hosting 17,122,548 visitors throughout the year.
The figure marks a 1.17% increase compared to the previous year. Ersoy, in a statement shared on his social media account, described the city as the "tourism capital of the Mediterranean" and noted that the city maintained its global standing with significant arrivals from the Russian Federation, Germany and the United Kingdom.
The Antalya Commodity Exchange also recently approved a ₺95 million ($2.21 million) budget for 2026 during its December board meeting.
Board President Ali Candir stated that the exchange would focus on technology-supported and data-driven policies to bolster the city's agricultural and tourism sectors.
Candir reported that while the Turkish economy grew 3.7% in the third quarter of 2025, the agricultural sector experienced a contraction. He expressed confidence in a 2026 recovery, provided that "positive discrimination" policies and proper supports are implemented for producers.
