Anthropic, the U.S. artificial intelligence company, posted third-quarter revenue of nearly $17 billion, roughly 12 times the amount from the same period a year earlier, a company filing showed Monday.
The developer of the Claude chatbot said revenue for the three months ended Sept. 30 exceeded the $16.3 billion it generated in the entire first half of 2026.
Anthropic’s net loss widened to $23.3 billion from $12.1 billion in the same quarter last year, while operating expenses surged 292% to $17.5 billion.
Anthropic has committed to spending $895 billion, almost all of it on computing capacity and infrastructure, Bloomberg reported.
About $70 billion of those commitments is due in the 12 months through September 2027, while the company expects to incur roughly $448 billion by the end of 2030, according to the report.
The commitments include purchases and leases, some of which have yet to begin.
Anthropic said in its initial prospectus, a document that details a company’s business and finances ahead of a public share sale, that it expects to incur nearly all the remaining spending between 2031 and 2045.
The company uses chips from Amazon, Google, Nvidia and AMD to train its artificial intelligence models, operate Claude for customers and support its researchers.
Anthropic filed an amended prospectus with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, a week after its initial public filing on Oct. 26. The company has applied to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol ANT.
Both Anthropic and existing shareholders plan to sell shares, with the company receiving proceeds only from shares it sells.
Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are leading the offering, which is expected before the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, according to Bloomberg.
Anthropic is seeking to match or exceed the $86.2 billion raised by SpaceX in its market debut, the media outlet reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Investors have told bankers working on the offering that they consider a fair valuation of around $1.4 trillion to $1.5 trillion, according to Bloomberg. Anthropic left the proposed share price and number of shares blank in its initial prospectus.
