Cloudflare, a leading provider of internet infrastructure and cybersecurity services, suffered a widespread outage Friday that disrupted access to numerous websites and platforms across the globe, prompting frustration and complaints on social media platform X.
Users reported disruptions affecting a wide range of services, including Substack, Canva, and DeepL—as well as Down Detector, a website that monitors global outages. Trading platforms Groww and Zerodha were also affected; however, Zerodha later announced that its Kite services had been fully restored.
Cloudflare issued a statement saying it had resolved an issue with its dashboard-related Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The outage sent the company’s shares down about 4.5% in premarket trading.
The latest disruption comes just two and a half weeks after Cloudflare experienced another major outage that took it offline for hours.
Cloudflare provides a range of online services, including content delivery networks, cybersecurity, DDoS mitigation, and wide area network support. Its systems serve as a crucial layer of protection and performance enhancement for many of the world’s most popular websites, helping them stay online even during periods of heavy traffic.
