The 1st International Turkic World Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Congress opened at Kyrgyzstan-Türkiye Manas University (KTMU) in Bishkek, bringing together academics, experts and students from across the Turkic world to address emerging technologies and their implications.
The congress was organized in cooperation with five Turkish universities—Ankara, Ataturk, Anadolu, Kapadokya and Sivas Cumhuriyet—and will run for two days, with the first day held in person and the second conducted online. A total of 115 papers are scheduled for presentation across both sessions.
'AI reached dimensions that surpass humans'
KTMU Rector Professor Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan said artificial intelligence has now penetrated every stage of human life and has begun to take on characteristics previously considered uniquely human.
He noted that the malicious use of AI has elevated cybersecurity to a critical national concern, adding that the university has launched dedicated departments in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity this year.
Prof. Dr. Serdar Selman, vice rector of the National Defense University in Türkiye, said that KTMU's role strengthens scientific ties between the two countries.
Congress Chair Prof. Dr. Ercan Celik said the event aims to unite the Turkic world's technological potential under a shared vision, with sessions focusing on digital transformation, natural language processing, generative AI and smart government applications.
The opening session also featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bedri Ozer of Firat University on the limits of AI and AI agents and Professor Dr. Veysel Bozkurt of Istanbul University on the use of AI for educational purposes in Türkiye.
