California-based tech giant Google on Tuesday unveiled Gemini 3, its most advanced artificial intelligence model to date, launching it simultaneously across flagship products, including the Google Search engine, the dedicated Gemini app, and enterprise development tools.

The rollout represents the beginning of what the company has described as the "Gemini 3 era," a shift toward deeper multimodal reasoning and more autonomous digital agents.

Google embeds Gemini 3 into search

Unlike earlier versions that were introduced incrementally, Gemini 3 is embedded in Google Search from its initial release. Premium subscribers using "AI Mode" will now receive computer-generated answers tailored to complex queries, bypassing traditional web listings. The model is also integrated into Google’s Gemini app, which currently exceeds 650 million monthly users, and is responsible for powering AI Overviews in Search, reaching more than two billion users monthly.

Google’s chief AI architect Koray Kavukcuoglu said the company aimed to make advanced capabilities available to users faster than ever, citing a new pace of development and integration across its ecosystem.

Gemini 3, particularly in its Pro and Deep Think configurations, recorded high scores across several widely used artificial intelligence evaluation benchmarks, covering areas such as logical reasoning, factual accuracy, and multimodal understanding.

The company said these benchmark results reflect Gemini 3’s ability to perform a diverse range of tasks, such as scientific data interpretation, programming, and content analysis involving multiple types of media.

Gemini 3 also demonstrated strong long-term planning capabilities in simulated task environments. In the Vending-Bench 2 benchmark—which evaluates how well AI models can manage a virtual vending machine business over the course of a year—Gemini 3 Pro consistently achieved the highest average money balance among tested models. It outperformed Claude Sonnet 4.5, GPT-5.1, and Gemini 2.5 Pro, maintaining superior performance over time.

Gemini 3 powers new tools for developers, users

In a push toward developer productivity, Google launched a new software development platform called Antigravity. Powered by Gemini 3, it enables autonomous coding through AI agents that can write, test, and validate software with minimal human input.

The agents can access and operate within integrated development environments, terminals, and browsers—allowing for full-cycle automation in complex tasks such as application development or website design.

The new version of Gemini enhances usability for everyday consumers. With its "Gemini Agent" functionality, users can organize emails, book travel, or simulate custom environments—like a Van Gogh art gallery with historical context—using plain-language prompts.

Gemini 3 is also capable of reading and interpreting handwritten recipes, analyzing video footage for performance improvement in sports like pickleball, and generating interactive visualizations for academic topics.

In Search, AI Mode now features immersive UI layouts and simulations that dynamically respond to queries—for example, visualizing complex biological processes like RNA polymerase action.

Google CEO touts Gemini 3, urges caution on AI investment craze

In a blog post by the company, Google CEO Sundar Pichai described Gemini 3 as the company’s "most intelligent model," emphasizing the speed at which the technology has advanced and the role Gemini plays in shaping the next phase of AI applications.

"We’re able to get advanced capabilities to the world faster than ever, thanks to our differentiated full stack approach to AI innovationfrom our leading infrastructure to our world-class research and models and tooling, to products that reach billions of people around the world," Pichai stated.

The debut of Gemini 3 comes at a time when global markets are increasingly voicing concern over the possibility of an artificial intelligence investment bubble, as major tech companies continue to pour billions into developing new models and infrastructure.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Sundar Pichai acknowledged that market enthusiasm may have outpaced fundamentals, stating, "There is some irrational exuberance in the AI space."

He also noted that while AI offers unprecedented opportunities, the technology’s energy demands and trustworthiness must be addressed in parallel. "The energy consumption of AI is immense," he warned, adding that it is important to balance innovation with responsibility. "I think people will need to use AI alongside traditional tools like search. It’s not about replacing everythingit’s about using the right tool for the job."
