Millions of Instagram users worldwide are experiencing sudden access issues, with widespread reports of broken feeds.

Access issues are being experienced specifically on the desktop versions of WhatsApp and Instagram, as well as Facebook.

While outage-tracking sites show a massive spike in user complaints, parent company Meta has yet to confirm the exact cause or provide a timeline for a full fix.

It was not immediately clear how many users were affected, what caused the reported issues or whether the problem was limited to certain regions, browsers or app versions.

Downdetector showed a "404 - Page Not Found" message on an Instagram status page. StatusGator, another outage-tracking site, showed dozens of user-submitted reports for Instagram over the past 24 hours.

The technical difficulties began to emerge at 4:45 p.m. local time in Türkiye (1:45 p.m. GMT), with reports of system outages quickly spanning across the globe.

Outage trackers have logged simultaneous, massive spikes in reports from users in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, Bulgaria, the Philippines and Türkiye.

Quick fix

Users experiencing issues can troubleshoot by testing the application on an alternative device, toggling between Wi-Fi and cellular data, reloading the webpage, or restarting the app.

If the problem persists, users should wait for the platform to restore service or check the official Meta and Instagram status dashboards for technical updates.
