Enerjisa Enerji, the U.N.'s Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (UNDP ICPSD) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have launched a joint initiative to support the development of qualified labor for the green and digital twin transformation of the energy sector, the companies announced.
According to the statement, the “Skills for an Inclusive Future (S4IF)” network, established in partnership with UNDP ICPSD and the EBRD, and of which Enerjisa Enerji is the first private sector stakeholder and beneficiary, has produced a roadmap aimed at building a workforce with the professional skills needed for the sector’s green and digital transition.
The initiative and its accompanying report were introduced in Ankara.
The cooperation was first announced internationally at COP29 in Baku last year.
The report, titled “Green and Digital Skills in Türkiye’s Energy Workforce: Twin Transformation Guide,” outlines findings on Türkiye’s existing workforce capacity, skill gaps and development needs while providing a comprehensive roadmap for adapting the energy sector to green and digital transformation.
Prepared in line with Türkiye’s 2053 net-zero target, the roadmap sets out how an inclusive and fair transition could be achieved.
It highlights the importance of equal opportunities for women, youth and individuals in rural areas, intending to support competitiveness, innovation and sustainable growth in the sector.
Enerjisa Enerji Sustainability and Corporate Capabilities Director Ebru Tascioglu, UNDP Türkiye Deputy Resident Representative Mustafa Ali Yurdupak and EBRD Eurasia Regional Energy Sector Director Sule Kilic attended the meeting hosted by Enerjisa Enerji.
Tascioglu said Enerjisa Enerji continues working to equip the sector’s workforce with green and digital skills, noting that meaningful partnerships and sustainability-focused approaches strengthen their vision for a “Better Future.”
Yurdupak said the initiative will help identify skill gaps and support Türkiye’s energy sector in becoming more resilient, inclusive and competitive.
He added that S4IF Türkiye aims to merge private sector expertise with public policy to produce more effective and sustainable solutions, while also encouraging greater private sector involvement in skill development.
Kilic stated that as energy investments continue across Türkiye, the EBRD is pleased to cooperate with UNDP and Enerjisa Enerji to support the development of the skills needed for the next generation of the sector’s workforce.
