President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a closed-door meeting on Friday with BlackRock CEO and World Economic Forum (WEF) co-chair Laurence Douglas Fink in Istanbul, just hours before a broader investor gathering in the city.
The meeting took place at the Dolmabahce Presidential Office, with Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek and Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar attending alongside WEF senior executive Alois Zwinggi, according to a statement..
The meeting came shortly before a WEF-linked Türkiye Country Strategy session that brought together global investors and Turkish policymakers in Istanbul.
A total of 23 international investors from 16 countries took part in the strategic dialogue, representing sectors including manufacturing, technology, energy, finance, infrastructure, healthcare, food and aviation. The participating firms collectively manage assets worth $1.2 trillion.
Discussions during the session focused on Türkiye’s position in the global economy, its investment potential and its long-term growth outlook.
Senior Turkish officials joined the meetings, including Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan.
During the sessions, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek outlined Türkiye’s macroeconomic framework and reform agenda, while Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar addressed energy security and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed regional stability and cooperation.
Participants discussed how to improve competitiveness, build economic resilience and attract more foreign investment, while strengthening Türkiye’s role as a global hub.
